B169 - 174 Dark Nebula

Sh2 - 134 Diffuse Emission Nebula

The B169-174 Dark Nebula Complex is surrounded by the red glow of Sh2-134, a Diffuse Emission Nebula which resides in the constellation of Cepheus.  This large red emission nebula is nearly 3000 light years distant and spans an area more that 140 light years across. In fact it covers almost 5 degrees of the sky within Cepheus!  Dark Nebula  B169-171 aka the Black Fish Nebula takes up the center/right of the image, and B173-174 is the smaller but prominent dark nebula in the upper left corner, somewhat resembling a seahorse drifting in space.
