A cool and pleasant fall morning was spent along the eleven mile Ohio Creek Road north of Gunnison, Colorado during the peak of the fall foliage season.  The morning light enhanced our views to the west on our way to Crested Butte.

Colorado Aspens - Ohio Creek Road 1:  This pleasant early morning view is looking west from a high point a few miles north of Gunnison just as the sun began to rise. 

Colorado Aspens - Ohio Creek Road 2:  These colorful Aspen trees stand in contrast to the dark evergreens in the background. 

Colorado Aspens - Ohio Creek Road 3:  Numerous scenes such as this one can be found for the first few miles as one ascends the Ohio Creek Road. 

Colorado Aspens - Ohio Creek Road 4:   Numerous homes and ranches dot the landscape prior to entering the higher forested portion of Ohio Creek Road.

Colorado Aspens - The Castles 1 -  Ohio Creek Road 5:  One of our first views of "The Castles", these spires are the erosional remnants carved out of volcanic debris that erupted from the West Elk Volcano, now extinct.

Colorado Aspens  -  Cattle on Road  -  Ohio Creek Road 10:  As elevation is gained the vast vistas disappear, but there is still plenty to see such as these free-range cattle unwillingly sharing the road.
